The entry fee is one line in the scenario. A useful cost calculation separates evaluation billing, paid retries, activation, market data and withdrawal deductions. Unknown charges should remain excluded and named, never silently counted as zero.
Build a scenario, not a promise
A “cost to funding” figure depends on how many attempts and billing periods you need. We do not know your pass probability. Our calculator adds the known fees you select; it does not forecast whether or when you will pass. An expected-cost model would need assumptions about passing, renewal timing and repeat attempts that are not measured here.
Three months are not one month
Using the listed Topstep Standard 50K snapshot, three $49 evaluation cycles plus $149 activation gives $296. Add two $49 paid resets and the known subtotal becomes $394. Both examples exclude taxes, transaction charges and other costs. Verify the currently offered path before using the numbers.
One-time does not mean unlimited attempts
A one-time purchase may have an expiry. The selected Apex EOD evaluation has a 30-day access period and no resets. If an attempt fails or expires, another evaluation is a new purchase. Multiplying a one-time fee by monthly cycles would be wrong; ignoring the second purchase would also be wrong.
A discounted first month may not set renewal
Check whether a coupon applies to the initial period or recurring billing. For UProfit Soft 50K, our source set distinguishes a discounted product card from the detailed article's renewal amount. The calculator uses a separate renewal amount when it is confirmed. If that distinction is unknown, the scenario needs a visible limitation.
Paid later is still a charge
Earn2Trade's non-professional LiveSim activation fee is deducted from the first withdrawal rather than collected upfront. That changes when cash leaves the account, not whether the charge exists. Live and professional data charges follow different rules, so the same fee must not be applied to every funded route.
A practical fee checklist
- Entry amount, currency, coupon and exact account variant.
- Renewal price and cancellation or passing rules.
- Reset availability, price and whether billing dates change.
- Activation choice: one-time, recurring or first-withdrawal deduction.
- Data status, commissions, taxes and payment-method fees.
- Any safety net that affects withdrawals, even though it is not a purchase fee.
Keep purchase costs separate from retained trading profits. A buffer is generally an eligibility condition, not another subscription payment. Mixing them into one unexplained “all-in” number makes comparison less useful.
